Liberals have
almost as much disdain and contempt for white people as they do for
America.
Their ideas for “fairness” have an annoying pattern of consistently
discriminating against Whitey. (Think affirmative action!)
What would happen if we applied affirmative action to, let’s say, the NBA or the
NFL? It would not work for obvious reasons.
This example in itself illustrates why it’s a disaster wherever else it’s been
attempted. But liberals believe that a less qualified
minority is entitled to a position more than a more accomplished Caucasian.
The debacle now
known as the Sonia Sotomayor nomination is liberalism at its best.
This woman is a complete leftist radical whose decisions while serving on the
appellate bench have been overturned more than upheld (60%).
Her most noteworthy case (Ricci v. DeStefano) involves a group of firefighters
from
New Haven,
CT, who took a standardized written
exam in order to advance to lieutenant or captain. Of the 118
applicants who participated, 59 earned passing scores.
Because there were limited vacant positions, only the top scorers were eligible
for promotion – which translated to: 17 whites, and two
Hispanics. Although 27 black firemen passed the exam, their
lower scores did not permit them to be promoted.
Judge Sotomayor
was quoted “If your test is going to always put a certain group at the bottom of
the pass rate so they’re never, ever going to be promoted, and there is a fair
test that could be devised that measures knowledge in a more substantive way,
then why shouldn’t the city have an opportunity to try to look and see if it can
develop that?” So, does the city get do-overs until the right
race comes out on top? This is classic liberalism.
When liberals look at a person, they do not see an individual.
They see a woman, a black, a Latino, an Asian, etc. They
group people into stereotypes. They cannot recognize the
fact, that each person in this country has all of the same potential of every
American.
In reality, there is probably not a lot that can be done to block Sotomayor’s
confirmation, given the Democrat majority in the Senate and House of
Representatives. But at least we can identify her motives,
and be aware of how she plans to influence the Supreme Court.
