The day after the Supreme Court ruled on Obamacare, the lone liberal in my office approached me, “So Barbie, what do you think of the ruling?” I beamed and replied “I couldn’t have had a better decision, really.”

I really think that Justice Roberts is more forward-thinking than anyone credits him. Stay with me on this: Had he decided that the individual mandate was unconstitutional – the left would have wailed that the court is partisan. So in essence, this card has been removed from Obama’s deck. It would have given Obama the fuel to accuse republicans of being evil, taking away health care etc. Of course, had the mandate been determined to be constitutional – that would have been a huge victory for the president. And there would be no taming the chest-beating from now until the election. Again, another card gone from the deck.

Justice Roberts stated that the individual mandate is only constitutional as a tax. This happens to be the largest tax increase in the history of the world. This is such a gift for Republicans! Obama, when campaigning for Obamacare, specifically stated over and over that the bill is NOT a tax. As we wind closer to the election, it’s going to be difficult for the president to preach his “it’s not a tax” philosophy, since the highest court in the land has now spoken. He also risks looking disrespectful toward the Supreme Court, which will not bode well with most Americans.

Clearly liberals are in a lather over the ruling. Technically, they won! And they’re still miserable. Nothing makes these people happy. Aside from Mitt Romney having the abysmal economy to run with – he can now hammer home the fact that Obama plans on moving forward with the greatest tax increase EVER. If only he reads this column…..
